Go For A Better World

Our Approach

Our Story

The dementia population is rapidly growing, projected to reach 139 million—2.5 times greater than now. It is irreversible, and no cures are available. Prevention is the only way. Effective dementia prevention requires a comprehensive approach addressing physical, intellectual, and social aspects, yet current prevention strategies are not paying enough attention to the intellectual and social components.

Go is an ancient Chinese board game, easy to learn with the simple tools of a grid board and black and white stones, yet hard to master. We recognize three key benefits of playing Go, particularly for seniors, which have been academically proven by research: it engages both sides of the brain, alleviates depression and anxiety, and promotes socialization among players.

We, Go For A Better World, believe that Go has the power to promote cognitive function, emotional well-being, and social interaction—critical aspects of comprehensive dementia prevention. In collaboration with the San Diego Go Club and Do Dream Education, a Go-specialized publisher in Korea, we have embarked on our journey to utilize Go as a primary tool for dementia prevention. We value joyful experiences, community engagement, and intergenerational connections, envisioning a Go-playing learning community without worrying about dementia.
